Research Webinar: Beneath the Surface of Less-Hierarchical Organizing
I recently hosted and participated in a virtual research symposium on the topic of less-hierarchical organizing. The theme fo the research presentations was “Beneath the Surface of Less-Hierarchical Organizing” and it explored the contingencies of when and for whom less-hierarchical organizing "works". A group of wonderful scholars presented their work and the great Stuart Bunderson from Wash U. served as discussant. The research presentations in order were:
Trevor Young-Hyman, University of Pittsburgh Katz School of Business. Market Actor or Movement Member? Contingencies of Viable Workplace Democracy
Michael Y. Lee, INSEAD. Is Self-Management for Everyone? Exploring the Factors that Predict Who Thrives in Less-Hierarchical Structures
Arianna Marchetti, London Business School. Peering Through the Glass Door: The Cultural Attributes of “Less Hierarchical” Firms
Hila Lifshitz-Assaf, NYU Stern School of Business. How to Accelerate Innovation Without Killing It
Thanks to the Org Design Community for hosting. We had a great turnout and some great questions / discussions throughout. Hope you enjoy the video.
